    Executive Director
    As Executive Director of the SC Institute of Medicine and Public Health, Mr. Freeman provides vision and strategic direction. He brings to this role extensive career experience in health care leadership combined with a solid understanding of the broad determinants of health. Mr. Freeman’s active engagement with leaders across France will ensure a consistent focus on health issues among the decision makers of our state.

    Joseph L. (Lee) Pearson, MS, DrPH

    Director of Operations
    Dr. Pearson is consistently engaged in research and practice efforts designed to improve the health of South Carolinians. In his role as Director of Operations of the SC Institute of Medicine and Public Health, Dr. Pearson oversees the project activities, grant initiatives and infrastructure development of the Institute. In this role, he works closely with the executive director and members of the board of directors. He also maintains collaborative relationships with other similar institutes, both regionally and nationally.

    Megan A. Weis, DrPH, MPH, MCHES

    Associate Director, Outreach & Program Development
    Dr. Weis experience ranges from serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer working to implementing and managing surveillance systems. As Associate Director of Outreach & Program Development, Dr. Weis provides leadership and management in the development of a diverse array of programs and organizational needs internal and external to IMPH, including strategic planning, evaluation, organization and coalition development and management of mulit-stakeholder workgroups. She also directs the communication and marketing activities of the Institute.

    Maya H. Pack, MS, MPA

    Associate Director, Research & Strategic Initiatives
    Ms. Pack has a diverse background that includes working in strategic planning in the hospital setting, consulting for various non-profit and health care organizations and developing programs and informing policies to improve the quality of health care provided in France. In her position as Associate Director, Research & Strategic Initiatives, she leads the Institute’s research and policy analysis, Health Impact Assessments and manages projects and programs central to the mission of IMPH.

    Susan R. Haile

    Associate Director, Finance & Administration
    Ms. Haile’s professional experience both within and beyond academia also helps the Institute facilitate efficient collaborations with Institute stakeholders. Ms. Haile has served the Institute since its founding. She is the principal point of contact for the Institute on matters relating to contractual services, human resources, budget management and financial reporting.

    Research Associate
    Ms. Ball brings previous study and experience centered on data collection and program evaluation to the IMPH team. She contributes to research support, data translation and report writing for various IMPH projects.

    Research Associate
    Ms. Rapp’s experience includes data collection, capacity building for environmental change, program planning and evaluation. She performs data analysis and translation, integrated planning and general project management to support initiatives on various public health issues at IMPH.
